If your dominant characteristic Cool and Ashy it means that there is an absence of warmth in your hair, eyes and skin tone. So you can have dark skin or light skin and still belong to this group as long as your coloring appears ashy along with blue and pink undertones. However you may get a warm overtone when you tan but your natural coloring in overall lacks warmth to it.

- Hair color ranges from bluish-black and medium to deep ash brown; silver-blonde, silver to salt & pepper. If you’re in your aging years, you’ll notice that the rich dark hair you used to have when you were younger has lost a bit of its color, making it appear soft or somewhat washed out.
- Eye color varies from a soft dark brown (you were probably a Deep Winter or Autumn when you were younger), charcoal gray, gray and grayish blue. The quality of your eyes have cooled down and are not so clear and vivid as a Clear person.
- Skin color is either beige, ashy black, gray beige, neutral beige or rose beige. It has some ashen quality to it.

Many Deep Autumns and Deep Winters slowly turn into a Cool as they age, because their coloring grays and softens.
Cool Wearing Warm Colors?
Cool Winters are able to color their hair golden-brown (especially Deep Winters because they overlap with Deep Autumns) without hurting their look. However, they need to have a little bit of a tan (see Kate Middleton) to adjust to the golden-brown hair and avoid looking sick.
