If you have a Summer coloring you’ll find this page helpful. Here you’ll find tips and tricks on how to select and wear colors that harmonize best with your light and delicate skin, hair and eye color.

If you’re a Summer,
you probably have:
- Low level of contrast between your hair and eye color. However you can also have cool (diffused) deep hair, eye color and light skin.
- You have an overall cool and ashy coloring no matter if your hair is blonde or brown, and no matter if your skin is light or dark.
- Your eyes have a soft, cool tone quality to them, such as slate and blue. Often with some grey to them, such as greyish hazel, greyish blue, greyish green.
- Your skin is dominantly cool with pink or blue undertone (without tan)
- Your hair color is in general cool and ashy, with little or no red or golden highlights. Hair color within the Summer season ranges from the lightest and ashiest blonde to deep ash brown

Winter
You are the most delicate and coolest season of all 4 in the seasonal color analysis – with a muted coloring with medium-light to medium-dark intensity. Many dark-haired Summers get mistaken for being a Winter. However the difference between a dark haired Summer and a Winter is the quality of the coloring – which is softer than a Winter’s.
It’s possible for women of color to be a Summer but they need to have an overall cool coloring as well as an eye color other than brown. Learn more about color analysis for women of color.

Your Color Palette Within
the Summer Season
We’re going to take a closer look at which color palette within the Summer season you belong to based on the intensity/quality of your hair, eye and skin color.

By knowing this you’ll know what nuances of blues and greens suit you best. Because even if two persons have a Summer coloring, the palette may differ by a few nuances based on the quality/intensity of your hair, eye and skin color.

Differences between the 3 Summers
Here we have 3 examples of 3 Summers with typical summer characteristics but different intensities. Naomi Watts (center) is considered a classic Summer because of her undeniably delicate and cool coloring.
Kate Middleton (left) on the other hand has darker hair which flows towards Winter – a Cool Winter. Sarah Jessica Parker (right) has a more neutral (warm mixed with cool) coloring and flows the opposite direction towards Autumn – a Soft Autumn.

Now let’s check out the typical characteristics and color palette of each intensity:
Light Summer (Eg. Naomi Watts)
Eyes: Blue or green
Hair: Light to medium ash blonde, light ash brown, pale and soft red-haired
Skin: Pale neutral beige or soft beige. Pink toned.
If you’re a Light Summer then you are strictly light from top to toe (skin, eyes and hair). However if you have some warmth to your coloring it may indicate that you have a coloring flowing into Light Spring. Learn more about what it means to be a Light coloring and what colors to wear.
Examples of celebs with Light Summer coloring: Reese Witherspoon, Naomi Watts, Jodie Foster, Heather Locklear
Cool Summer (eg. Kate Middleton)
Eyes: Gray, blue or slate
Hair: Medium to deep ash brown. Little or no red tones
Skin: Cool beige, blue-black, gray beige or neutral beige
You’re dominantly cool in coloring – cool eyes, cool hair and cool skin – with little or no warmth to your skin. Compared to other color palettes that flow into other seasons, yours is more restricted to cool summer colors only. However there are some colors may overlap with Cool Winter.
